Graduated from National Law School of India University, Bangalore, one of the most prestigious law schools in the country. Has a background in physics and chemistry. Is qualified as both an Attorney-at-law and as a Registered Patent Agent. Started his practice with Remfry & Sagar from 1993 to October 1998. Resigned from Remfry & Sagar as the Head of its Patents Department in November 1998 and was admitted as a partner of Subramaniam, Nataraj & Associates on November 11, 1998. Has established himself as one of the leading IP attorneys of the country in a very short time. At present, involved in actively drafting specifications for both Indian and foreign patent filings for both domestic and international clients, prosecutions, oppositions and litigation. Notable amongst litigation successes include obtaining the first set of interim injunctions on an exclusive marketing right application (EMR) and obtaining the first decision in favour of a defendant in a domain name dispute before the High Court of Delhi. Has been invited by Butterworths, leading law book publishers to write a book on Patents Law and Practice. Has been invited to speak at over 40 workshops and seminars across the country in various fora, such as TIFAC, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Indian Patent Office, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, IIM Lucknow, Indian Law Institute, and other law and technology schools in the country. Is also a visiting faculty for intellectual property rights for IIPS Mumbai and IIM Lucknow.
