Poojitha Rao is an attorney in the Technology, Media and Communications Department of Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner LLP and co-heads the firm's India Practice Group. She handles a wide variety of technology, new media, intellectual property and corporate transactions, including outsourcing, consulting services, software, hardware and content license agreements, and strategic alliance, joint venture, Internet, e-commerce, research and development, marketing, distribution and marketing transactions. Ms. Rao's representative transactions include:
  • Representation of major global financial institution in drafting and negotiating an ASP application development, hosting services and joint marketing agreement with third party service provider
  • Representation of leading insurance organizations in their outsourcing of critical IT functions to offshore and onshore service providers
  • Representation of major international media and entertainment company in a series of transactions involving Web Site design, hosting, content licensing and other services
  • Representation of one of the world's largest art museums in various technology transactions.
  • Counsel BPO and IT service providers regarding provision of outsourced services
Ms. Rao received her B.A. and LL.B. from the National Law School of India University in 1993 and her LL.M. in Intellectual Property from the George Washington University Law School in 1994. She served as an adjunct professor of Patent Laws at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law from 1994-1996. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the State of Karnataka, India. She is a member of the Computer Law Association and the New York State Bar Association and its Special Committee of Cyberspace Law.
