Sunil joined Reliance Infocomm in August 2000 in his current assignment. Sunil holds a Bachelor (honours, Silver medallist) degree in Electronics Engineering with masters in Business Administration. Sunil has a total of 15 years of work experience in IT and Telecom industry, out of which last 7 years have been into pure Data Center business.
In Reliance, Sunil plays a central role in business planning, launch and management of Reliance's Internet Data Centre projects, which span across 4 large Tier 3 Data centers (200,000 sq. ft.). Currently he is busy expanding Reliance’s data center footprint to additional 4 Tier 3 data centers and 15 Tier 2 Data centers in different cities in India taking the total footprint to more than 600,000 sq. ft. in 1-year time frame.
He is directly responsible for IDC business and meeting the desired revenue targets. His job profile includes Product development, product packaging, pricing, promotion, process development, vendor interaction, inter-departmental coordination & business development.
Sunil has introduced various IDC product offerings like Collocation, Dedicated Hosting, Managed Security, Storage services, Mailing, Media Streaming, and Disaster Recovery solutions.
Besides his IDC responsibilities, Sunil is a part of the team, which handles Reliance’s Internet policy comprising among other things the Transit and Peering of Reliance Public IP network with various other ISP’s.
Prior to joining Reliance, he was Head Product management – IP services with GTL Ltd for about 5 years. In GTL, he was responsible for Product development, product packaging, pricing, promotion, process development, vendor interaction, inter-departmental coordination, pre-sales support and Sales Training. He had a key role in launch and management of Global's Frame Relay, IP VPN & Internet Access Services. He was also directly responsible for Sales to named Key National Accounts.
Prior to GTL, Sunil has worked in a software company, Iris Software Ltd. for 1 year selling software products and solutions, before which he was doing his own business of computer hardware and networking for about 3 years.
Sunil has keen interest in teaching technical concepts relating to IP / Internet to non-technical /business executives in an easy logical way. Sunil has conducted various rounds of training programmers for business / commercial teams in past 12 years.
Married to Sujata for more than 10 years, he has 1 daughter, Nandini. Sujata is also an electronics engineer with MBA in finance and currently is working with Citibank NA as Associate Vice President – software quality systems. Nandini is 4 years old and currently enjoys going to her Nursery school.
