Ian Bertram is a vice president in Gartner Research, where he leads the Software Research sector in Asia/Pacific. He is based in the Gartner Singapore office. Ian has been seen on CNBC, BBC, Bloomberg and CNN covering a multitude of topics from IT trends, PC and Semiconductor outlook, to mergers and acquisition in the software and hardware industry.

Mr. Bertram's team of analysts focus on topics in business applications, including; CRM, SCM, ERP, knowledge management and BI as well as the infrastructure software market, such as: application integration, application development, enterprise architecture, Web service and security. The analysts within this team cover various countries across the globe, publishing research and advising clients on strategic and tactical advantages with respect to trends in the software market.

Mr. Bertram has an extensive background in the Asia/Pacific region in hardware platforms research such as PC, PDA, server and storage. Mr. Bertram speaks widely on the adoption of IT across the Asia/Pacific region and has worked with CIOs and IT departments in Gartner Executive Programs (EXP) on issues such as vendor selection frameworks.

Prior to joining Gartner in November 1998, Mr. Bertram was with IBM for 10 years. He held a variety of roles including financial analyst, new market development manager, IBM direct programs manager, product management and brand marketing manager in the Asia/Pacific region.

Mr. Bertram has a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a major in Marketing and a minor in Industrial Relations. He also has done post-graduate studies in Marketing Management and Direct Marketing.
