John P. Roberts VP, Chief of Research Asia/Pacific Gartner Analysts John Roberts is a vice president (VP) and chief of research Asia/Pacific, with Gartner Australasia. He is based in Melbourne and conducts research and provides advice and support for Gartner clients throughout Asia/Pacific on business transformation, IT management, business value of IT, strategic planning, organisation and sourcing strategies and applications management including business intelligence, knowledge management, and performance management. Mr. Roberts provides guidance on the overall research agenda for Gartner Asia/Pacific. He has written research notes on strategic planning, business value of IT, outsourcing, and IT management and provided advice to a wide range of government and private enterprises. This has included reviewing IT strategic plans for clients, doing presentations on business management trends and delivering business value from IT, and providing guidance on organisational directions, staffing trends, service level agreements, vendor selection criteria, and performance metrics. Mr. Roberts joined Gartner from Mobil Oil Australia where he most recently held the position of General Manager Information Systems. Prior experiences include IT management, strategic business planning, business process re-engineering, quality improvement initiatives, and project management and process engineering in manufacturing industry.
