(1) M.L.A.: Represented Bhilwadi-Wangi Assembly Constituency in Sangli District in Maharashtra. Legislative Assembly for three terms i.e. 1985-90, 1990-1995, 1999 and Recently won Assembly election from same constituency with a thumping margin.
(2) Minister: (a) Minister of State for Education, Irrigation, Command Area Development and Welfare of Ex-serviceman and also held the Independent charge of School Education in Govt. of Maharashtra Ministry (June 1991 to Feb. 1993)
(b) Cabinet Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Employment in the Govt. of Maharashtra Ministry (Sept. 1994 to March 1995)
(c) At present as a Minister for Industries, Trade & Commerce since Oct. 1999 and also holding charge as a Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Rehabilitation and Relief Work.
(3) Since November 2005, he is holding the post of Minister for Co-operation, Rehabilitation and Relief Work.
