Shri Vepa Kamesam has been appointed as Managing Director of IIRM with effect from 4th May 2005. Earlier he was Advisor to IIRM from 1st April 2004.
Shri Vepa Kamesam spent about 39 years with State Bank of India entering service as Probationary Officer in 1963 and retiring as Managing Director. In his career progression, he worked at Singapore, GM Foreign Department, GM for UK branches of SBI, London apart form regular assignments in domestic banking and Head Office positions.
In year 2001, Shri Kamesam was appointed as Deputy Governor of RBI for two years and his term was extended till December 2003, when he retired. While at RBI he was charge of several operational departments and notable progress was seen in currency Management and Information areas. He was on the Board of NHB and NABARD representing RBI.
Post retirement he served as Chairman, IDRBT, Hyderabad till December 2004 and Chairman, BRBNMPL, Bangalore till 31st March 2005. He is also honorary visiting faculty at ASCI, Bellavista, Hyderabad.
