Latha Venkatesh, is Banking Editor at CNBC-TV18 and hosts a number of popular market-hours shows including Markets Midday and Closing Bell.

She is a close watcher of the interest rate and currency markets and the Reserve Bank of India. Over the years she has been accepted as one of the canniest commentators of monetary policy and the central bank.

Latha has sixteen years in business journalism, most of which have been spent tracking markets of all kinds - bonds, currencies, commodities and equities. She ahs worked in Dow Joens Newswires and in The Economic Times before she joined CNBC.

She has a PhD in Public Policy from Mumbai University.
